“I keep getting the arguments from, for instance, Dr. Otis Brawley, head of the American Cancer Society that “we are making great strides and we are extending life. ”Let’s examine that statement. Extending life… all right, let’s look at the great “strides” made toward pancreatic cancer. The drug Gemzar is touted as the panacea for this deadly disease. Gemzar has been compared to the previous “best” chemo for pancreatic cancer and the median survival improved from 4.2 months to only 5.7 months. About one extra month of life for this expensive drug? Not one single patient out of 126 in the study survived longer than 19 months. But Gemzar has been considered such an advance that the FDA approved it and now it’s a billion-dollar industry. It’s used all over the world. This is considered a major “advance”?”

- Suzanne Somers is kinda crazy, so crazy that she’s written a book full of her interviews with doctors about cancer. But for all her quackery, I am in agreement with her about Gemzar. There is essentially just one chemo solution for people with advanced pancreatic cancer, and it only works for a very small percentage of patients. Gemzar (paired with Tarceva) did nothing for my mom (except inflict horrible side effects). I know we’re talking about people suffering from Stage 4 of a brutal cancer, but still… I wish my mother had had more options. She lived 8 months.

I would love to buddy up to Kristen Stewart’s stylist. She’s been wearing some bad-ass shoes during their New Moon press tour, and her overall look totally captures her personal style but tops it off with some serious glam. In short, her stylist knows her client’s tastes, and it’s nice to finally have someone offer up something style-wise that differs from that big blond rexi slutfest look of The Hills/Lohan crew. I’m even sick of Nicole Richie’s boho barefoot mom get-ups.

This devastates me. Back in the day when American Girl was really kick-ass, the catalogs included adult and child sized versions of the dolls’ clothes so you could dress just like your American Girl. Oh how I wanted all of Kirsten’s prairie girl clothes. Alas, I am a Samantha girl at heart, what with my brown hair and my 50-room camp in the Adirondacks. My Samantha doll (and steamer trunk, and bed and school room) are still stashed at my parents house to pass on to whatever future child of mine is willing to commit to a lifetime of American Girl obsession.

Once of my nice Mainer friends kindly hinted that maybe I was being a little c-wordy with my previous Maine rant encouraging people not to travel there anymore. I’ll give her that. 47% of the state did vote in favor of gay marriage. So I guess we should all still go to Maine and enjoy the sweet salty air and the tasty beer and the overpriced lobster rolls.

But let me just say this - that 53% just screwed Maine out of a lot of tourism money that would have rolled into the state with gay marriages. You could have raked in a lot of cash letting two hot guys and their rich friends celebrate their nuptials on your craggy cliffs and beaches, but you had to go and choose ignorance over cash, eh Mainers? Stupids. Open-mindedness always leads to a pot of gold.

I really, really, really love all of Maine. And frankly, they’re only embarrassing themselves. I hope people who feel strongly about the right to allow same-sex marriage stop vacationing in Vacationland and take their tourist dollars elsewhere so that Maine gets the point. Might I suggest New Hampshire? It’s less touristy and there’s no sales tax!

Okay, so I was walking to get food in SoHo where I work, and I could have sworn I saw Lindsay Lohan, but if her hair was black. Then I was like, man, I have no idea what her hair color is now. It very well could be black.

Then I tried to google it, but there’s a million pictures of Lindsay Lohan, with every color of the rainbow and no way of telling which is the most recent.

Someone should make a blog just called like, “Celeb Hair, Bitches!” to just tell me what color her celebrities’ hair is now so I can know, once and for all, if I saw a celebrity I care enough about to write a tumblr post.

I have a serious soft spot in my heart for Killgore. Last year’s run of shows pulled me out of the massive depression I had been in for over a year following my mom’s death. It reminded me why I loved performing and comedy, and how lucky I am to do these things with an amazing bunch of hilarious and supportive people.

This year I’m in a much better place mentally, and just got to sit back and enjoy the madness of getting “naked close” to peeps while covered in chocolate sauce.

I’m really grateful for both experiences.
