When good food is bad
There are certains foods that I love eating so much, that if I eat a not-so-good one it puts me in a really bad mood. I’m cultivating a list: Clementines Cherry tomatoes Avocados Green tea Apples Pears Bananas Cafe au lait Bloody marys Gin and tonics Maccaroni and cheese Veggie burgers What else?
Churchill's hippie granddaughter dies →
Arabella Spencer-Churchill, the unconventional granddaughter of Britain’s wartime prime minister and a founder of the Glastonbury rock festival, has died at age 58, her husband said. Spencer-Churchill, who had pancreatic cancer, died at home in Glastonbury… Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced, but would be in accord with her Buddhist faith, her husband said.

If You Want Something, Say Something: One of the...
I just got a commission to write a piece for a major UK magazine - and while they gave me an offer that I thought was fairly normal, it didn’t blow me away. That said, my first inclination was to accept it - a huge mistake. I caught myself, and volleyed back with a higher fee. They not only said yes, but then gave me even more (I can’t explain that part, but hurray!). Another...

My friend Chris Kula and I came up with a great idea for a movie. It’s about this nerdy teenage basketball player who really isn’t that great on the court. He’s really into this hot girl who wouldn’t even give him the time of day if she happened to notice him at all, and also, he hangs with this dick-head named “Stiles,” and has this other girl friend who is...

I blogged this earlier today for VH1, and I think it’s fairly accurate.
Meat raises lung cancer risk, too, study finds →
And pancreatic cancer. In my quest to understand what caused my mom’s cancer (besides shitty karma), I find this very interesting. Also, I do not eat meat (since 2005). This is just one of many reasons why.
Cancer Pep Rally
The chemo that did not work for my mom is working like a champ for Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch. I’m thrilled. I really want him to be the miracle my mom wasn’t, and to somehow kill all these tumors and live. This is medically impossible, which would make it all the more AWESOME! Positive thinking, always.

Ricky said: I think it needs a new classification. “Blog” is misleading and doesn’t describe the experience of using it. Maybe something like “sharing community” or “facebook but with stuff.” I can’t market it, but I will tell you what it is. It is a meme platform. — jakoblodwick

Fiber, whole grains may cut pancreatic cancer risk →
Sometimes I spend time thinking about what my mom - or we - could have done to stop or prevent or kill her cancer before it killed her. I’m pretty sure this is just, you know, a normal thing a grieving person does, but still it’s fucking annoying sometimes. Anyway, carbs sound like a good one to add to the list - right below stress, toxic cleaning supplies, and broccoli. Oh well.
